Melvin E. Hunt, 79, of Brownsburg, IN and formerly of Terre Haute passed away late Thursday evening, May 23, 2019 in Brownsburg Meadows Healthcare. He was a manufacturing group leader for General Housewares/Columbia Home Products for 42 years. Melvin was born July 27, 1939 in Terre Haute to Melvin B. Hunt and Edith Lowe Hunt. His wife, Theresa E. Ulrich Hunt, preceded him in death in 2017.
Survivors include his son, Brad Hunt (Amy) of Avon, IN; a daughter, Kim Martin of Indianapolis, IN; step-son, Scott Blinzler of Terre Haute; step-daughter, Laura Bridges of Terre Haute; and 13 grandchildren, Devin Blinzler, Dylan Blinzler, Mason Blinzler, Christian Campbell, Blake Bridges, Chloe Hunt, Harper Hunt, Christa Lindsey, Heather Pitts, Ashley Lindsey, Brock Byrd, Brennen Byrd and Austin Byrd;. Also surviving are two brothers, Jim Hunt and Carl Hunt (Carol); three sisters, Maxine Thompson, Joy Webb and Sue Gardner (Kenny); 3 brothers-in-law, Gus Ulrich (Sonya), Allen Ulrich (Linda) and Phil Ulrich (Mary); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Melvin was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angie Lindsey; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Lindsey.
Melvin was a graduate of Honey Creek High School and was very active in the Terre Haute Eagles Aerie 291 where he was a life member. He loved to bowl and was involved in several bowling leagues, was a big NASCAR fan and could often be found listening to country music on the radio. Melvin enjoyed cooking and growing vegetables in his garden, especially tomatoes. What he loved most of all was family vacations where there was lots of camping, fishing and traveling the country.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating.
