Maxine S. Cundiff, 96, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 in Westminster Village. She was born September 24, 1920 in Terre Haute to Paul Shaw and Rula Heady Shaw. Maxine taught school in Warrensburg and Chrisman, IL, was a church secretary, and was co-owner of Farmer's Daughters Gift Shop.
Survivors include her husband of almost 71 years, Thomas Cundiff; son, Paul Cundiff and his wife Martenia of Jamestown, KY; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Claire Lewis; sister, Marian Pickett; and a step-grandchild.
Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved children. She was a 70 year member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church and the Circle One Women's Club of the church, Chapter Z of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and a life member of the I.S.U. Alumni Association. She also volunteered for several organizations including Meals on Wheels and Union Hospital Service Guild.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, 1203 Maple Avenue, Terre Haute, IN with Reverend David Rockhill officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street and Tuesday, January 17, 2017 prior to services from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Maple Avenue United Methodist Church.
