Mary Margaret Whitlock

July 5, 1924 — March 28, 2014

Mary Margaret Whitlock, 89, of Mulberry, Indiana and formerly of Terre Haute died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. She was born July 5, 1924 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to William D. Mabe and Theresa Marie Deck Mabe. Mary was a secretary in the science department for 22 years at Indiana State University. Survivors include her two sons, Gerry Hankins and his wife Mary Ellen of Terre Haute and Richard Hankins and his wife Chris of Lafayette, IN; two grandchildren, Aaron Hankins and his wife Rene and Adam Hankins; three great grandchildren, Damon Hankins, Kaitlyn Hankins, Mark Hankins; and a special great niece Brittney Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Whitlock in 1988; her parents; two sisters, Gerry Yaraschefski and Virginia Russell; and a grandson, Eric Hankins. Mary attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was past president of the American Businesswomen's Association. Mary was known for her crocheting, embroidery, and quilts. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from Noon-2:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
