Mary S. Ward

Mary S. Ward, 77, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday morning, September 12, 2020.  She was born April 8, 1943 in Denver, CO to Rev. Calvin Warburton and Janice Fitch Warburton.  Her husband, Bryan Jay Ward, preceded her in death in 2015.

S urvivors include her four sons, Bradley Ward (Kelly), Greg Ward, Kevin Ward and Chris Ward (Megan);  six grandchildren, Ryan, Christian, Levi, Calvin, Owen and Ashlyn;  brother, Edward Warburton (Joyce);  sisters, Natalie Sable and Ellen Levesque;  a brother-in-law, Rodney K. Ward;  sister-in-law, Beth Warburton;  and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, David Warburton.

Mary was a 1962 graduate of Wesley Nursing School in Wichita, KS and started a career in nursing before her marriage to Bryan and raising her four sons.  She was a very active member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served as President of United Methodist Women, worked with Missions and participated in other leadership roles.  In spite of the illnesses she fought for much of her life, she was a proud mother of her four boys, was an excellent cook, and quite a storyteller.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar Street, with Rev. Ron Branson officiating.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM in the church.  Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, c/o Memorial Fund, 2701 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.  Funeral information may also be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
