Mary G. Strange

Mary G. Strange, 97, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in her residence. She was born February 19, 1927 in Terre Haute to Anthony Bruno and Mary Cali Bruno.

Survivors include her children, Roberta “Bobbie” Cordell (Gary); Larry Drake (Pam), and Paul Drake (Nancy); grandchildren, Robert Drake (Dawn), Kathy Pressley (Lanny), Sarah Monce, David Cordell (Tona), Joseph Cordell, Jennifer Cordell, Mary Handlin (Garry), Chris Drake (Melissa), Lisa Van Reed (Logan), Juli Morris (Rob), Krystina Drake, Allison Mishler (Zach), and Leslie Drake; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Drake and Raymond Strange; sons, Anthony Drake and John Drake; step-daughter, Angela Strange; brothers, John Bruno and Larry Bruno; and grandson, John Drake, Jr.

Mary retired as a long distance telephone operator for GTE. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Mary loved to watch Purdue, the Colts, and the Celtics. She was a loving mother and enjoyed cooking, baking pumpkin pies, making peanut butter fudge, and playing bingo. She always told people that she went to school for 12 years without missing a day.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 P.M. on Monday, September 9, 2024 in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Bob Showers, OFM Conv, officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be prior to mass from 10:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. in the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Benedict Soup Kitchen.
