Mary L. McCrea, born December 3, 1924, departed this life Tuesday morning, December 8, 2020 to be joyously reunited with her Savior, Jesus the Christ, her loving husband, Fred R. McCrea, her parents, Arvilla Margaret Schooler-Kincaid and William Owen Kincaid, and her infant brother, William Owen Kincaid Jr., who had preceded her in death.
She was surrounded by her dear friend and companion, Richard Dasher, and virtually and spiritually by her loving children, Patrice (Tom) Jones, Susan (Ron) Kiger, Michael (Gay) McCrea, Wm. Kevin (Michelle) McCrea, her brother, Richard Owen (Kay) Kincaid, her niece, Chrissy John, and her grandchildren, Andy (Lindsay) Jones, Bobby (Lina) Jones, Kristopher (Jennifer) Kiger, Wm. David (Michelle) Kiger, Jonathan (Jessica) McCrea, Katherine (Jason) Shaul, Carter (Emily) McCrea, Erin (Ben) McCrea-Gantz, Jessica (Matt) McCrea-Templeton, Laura (Clay) McCrea-Huffman, and Kendra (Zachary) McCrea-Bailey. She is survived also by 24 great grandchildren.
Among her professional and personal pursuits, Mary was a Registered Nurse, maintaining her license and skills throughout her life. She was a private pilot with instrument rating, a published poet, an artist displaying in juried shows, a woodworker/carver, a musician, world traveler, and golfer. She capably carried out leadership roles in the multiple memberships she maintained, among them the Association of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, the Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots, Medical Auxiliary, Swope Art Gallery, Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, P.E.O, Tri Kappa, Alpha Xi Delta, Newcomers Club, and Girl Scouts of America. Her family endeavors to live up to the high standard she modeled for love, life, and service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
