Mary Louise "Mary Lou" McCullough, 87, of Terre Haute passed away early Saturday morning, December 3, 2016 in Springhill Village. She had worked as a secretary in the Math Department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for over 30 years. Mary Lou was born February 2, 1929 in Sullivan County, IN to Glen "Fuzzy" Shidler and Nellie Greene Shidler.
Survivors include her four children, Richard Lee McCullough and his wife, Yelonda, of Crossville, TN, Mary Jo Lestini and her husband, John L. Jr., of Pittsburgh, PA, Mark Charles McCullough and his wife, Kelly, of Pickerington, OH and Katherine Mae Richardson and her husband, Brad, of Terre Haute; and her sister, Sharon Faye King of Terre Haute. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Lois Shidler of Sun City Center, FL; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Shidler.
Mary Lou graduated Valedictorian from the former Glenn High School. Her faith and religion were a very important part of her life. She especially enjoyed worship, music and singing. Mary Lou served as song leader at The Rock Church and Calvary Full Gospel Church and was a former President of Womens Aglow. Later in life Mary Lou became an Ordained Minister. She was the recipient of the President's Service Award from Rose-Hulman and formerly typed math books written by Dr. Ralph P. Grimaldi.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 6th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and also prior to services on Wednesday, Dec. 7th from 10:00-11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
