Mary Jensen Levite, age 101, died peacefully in her residence on Sunday, September 4, 2016. She was born November 5, 1914 to Cora Hale Jensen and William Jensen in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Salo J. Levite of 43 years, May 9, 1990; her sister Lorene Jensen Hood, March 15, 2003; and her brother-in-law Dewey J. Hood, November 16, 2009. Her first and only position was at the Meis Store where she started in 1932 and retired in 1985. She opened and managed the Boulevard Room in 1947, doing all of the designer buying and enjoying selecting the wardrobes for many women of the Wabash Valley and surrounding areas. She was a very active member of the Eastside Church of Christ and the Prayer Group. Surviving her is her niece Marsha Hood Tahiri, whom she loved as her daughter, and her husband Abdellah Tahiri, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Eastside Church of Christ, 4025 College Avenue with Pastor Richard Jorgensen, Scot Harris, and Nancy Sommers officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
