Mary Alice Langdon, 88, of Terre Haute died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Regional Hospital with her loving son Michael by her side. She was born October 19, 1926, in Terre Haute to Charles Klein and Marie Defel Klein. Her devoted husband of 64 happy years, Robert Henry Langdon, died in July of 2012. Survivors include son Michael Langdon and his wife Casey with their daughters Kelly and Taylor of Cincinnati, OH and son Patrick and his wife Renee and their daughters Rachel and Jessica of Friendswood, TX. Other survivors include Thomas Langdon and his wife Kay, brother in law Bob Jones, sister in law Betty Langdon and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her dear cousin Mary Kay Aust, Aunts Beatrice Holvey, and Elizabeth Long and Uncles Enos and George Defel. Mary Alice was a hard worker beginning early in life as a nanny while still in high school. She served in this capacity for many years even traveling to Washington D.C. with the family one summer to work. She graduated from Indiana State University and taught home economics at Argos High School. Mary Alice was a loving mother and grandmother. Her life was devoted to her family and keeping them all up and running and on schedule. In her spare time she volunteered for many different organizations. She was fun loving and loved to entertain. She enjoyed travel, home decorating, gardening, quilting, bridge, word games, game shows and watching sports but especially spending time with family and friends. She was an animal lover with a special fondness for dogs, birds and horses. She had a very sweet and giving nature that got sweeter with time. Mary Alice treated all with respect and was not afraid to speak up when needed. She was always thinking of others. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. A memorial mass of the celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 12:05 p.m. In St. Benedicts Catholic Church, 111 S. 9th Street, Terre Haute, with Father Matthew Malek officiating. Visitation is scheduled prior to services Saturday, January 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
