Mary E. Holt, 100, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday evening, March 3, 2015 in Union Hospital. She was a retired Traffic Manager for WTHI TV and Radio. Mary was born August 1, 1914 in Terre Haute to George W. Guptill and Emma M. Miller Guptill. Her husband, Ward B. Holt, preceded her in death in 1979. Survivors include two sons, Donald Joe Evinger and his wife, Effie, of Terre Haute and George Evinger and his wife, Carol, of Fredricksburg, VA; a daughter-in-law, Darla Evinger of West Terre Haute; numerous grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Herbert Eugene Evinger; two brothers, George Guptill and Gene Guptill; and two sisters, Violet Bogard and Marie Foulke. Mary was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and Brown's Business College. She was a member of Calvary Temple of Terre Haute, Terre Haute Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star where she was a 61 year member, Galilee Shrine #7 White Shrine of Jerusalem, Kerman Cauldron, Kerman Grotto Widows Club and Wabash Senior Citizens. The family would to offer a special thank you to Mary's granddaughter, Marquita Lee, for her loving kindness and care given to Mary. Services will be conducted at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th St., beginning with Terre Haute Chapter #43 Order of Eastern Star Memorial Services and followed by funeral services with Reverend Don McDaniel officiating.
