Mary Frances Ditto

Mary Frances Walters Ditto, 91, passed away September 27, 2014, at Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born February 5, 1923 in Richmond, Kentucky, to Frank P. and Nettiereid Walters. She graduated from Glenn High School in 1941, and was both a nurse and a teacher. She graduated from Union Hospital School of Nursing and also received a B.S. in nursing and a B.S. and M.S. in education from Indiana State University. She was a nurse at Union Hospital in pediatrics and also did private duty nursing. She later taught school for four years in the Clay Community Schools and then returned to her first love, nursing. She retired in 1985 as charge nurse at Hamilton Center in Terre Haute. She was a member of Central Christian Church, a member of the Florence Nightingale Club, Women's Department Club, and a lifetime member of the National Education Association. She joins in heaven her parents, her husband, Bob, a brother, Bill White, and her Aunt Genevieve and Uncle Jack Waters. She is survived by her son, Robert Michael Ditto and wife, Andrea, of Terre Haute, a brother, Burton White, of Rosamond, California, a sister-in-law, Sue White, of Charleston, Illinois, two grandchildren, Michael Ditto and wife, Laura, of Peru, Indiana, Krista Lawler and husband, Travis, of Logansport, Indiana, and four great-grandchildren, Kali Ditto, Jenna Joyce, Isabella Ditto, and Mary Lawler, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Reverend Rebecca Zelensky officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Union Hospital Foundation.
