Mary Jane Burt

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Campbell of Sun City Center, FL and Virginia Perucca of Champaign, IL and Ft. Myers Beach, FL; and seven nieces and nephews, Cathy Hellany, Herrin, IL; Beth (Kurt) Bullard, Elkhart, IN; Teresa Sheridan, Chicago, IL; Bill (Lisa) Carmichael, Indianapolis, IN; Angela (Loren) Madison, Morton, IL; Gina (Jim) Blayney, Minneapolis, MN and Tony Perucca, Seattle WA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary Jane graduated from Garfield High School in 1939 and Indiana State University in 1944. Continuing her education, she received her MA degree from Columbia University, New York, NY. She taught at Clinton High School, 1943-45; Sarah Scott, 1945-1947; Garfield High School from 1947-1970 and Terre Haute North High School from 1971-1987. In 1951-1952, Mary Jane taught in Weisbaden, Germany with the American Independent Schools.
The family wishes to thank Ms. Polly Jeffers, Wabash Valley Care Management, for the care and concern she has provided these past several years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2018 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 S. 9th Street, with Father Martin Day, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Memorial contributions should be directed to a charity of your choosing. Information may also be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
