Mary Katherine Akers
April 10, 1953 — February 7, 2020
Survivors include her husband, Danny Akers; children, Jamie Akers and Chad Akers (Natalie); grandchildren, Isaiah Suggs, Kendall Riggen, and Ellie Akers; brother, Michael Ellingsworth (Molly); sisters, Anna Lee Dowell (Terry) and Pamela Richardt (Mark); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bernard Ellingsworth, Jr.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph University Parish and Women of the Moose. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing bingo. Mary worked at Columbia Records for nearly 20 years until she became disabled. She also taught religious education at St. Joseph University Parish for 21 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 in St. Joseph University Parish with Friar Cyprian Uline, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to services from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph University Parish.
