Marjorie Ellingsworth Allen Bridges life on earth has come to an end after 98 years. She is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Marjorie is surrounded by the loved ones who have gone before her. She was a life-long homemaker. Marjorie was born December 23, 1917 to Acle Ellingsworth and Eva Morris Ellingsworth. in West Terre Haute, IN. Mamaw was the matriarch and dedicated her life to her family, who loved and cherished her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James Allen and Harold Bridges; son, James R. Allen; sisters, Alvenia Hamilton, Evelyn Gray, Mary Jones, Ginger Chrisman, and Patricia Hunt; and brothers, Robert Ellingsworth and Morris Ellingsworth.
Mamaw is survived by daughters, Patricia Allen and Dorothy Evans (Eric) both of Terre Haute, and Carol Shake (Samuel) of Cocoa Beach, FL; sons, Michael Allen (Ruth) of Prescott Valley, AZ, Daniel Allen (Paula) Scottsdale, AZ, and Stephen Allen (Pamela) of Murfreesboro, TN and daughter-in-law, Helen Allen of San Antonio, TX. Mamaw was the grandmother to eighteen, great-grandmother to forty-eight and great-great-grandmother to six. Mamaw was a Mother to many more than just her family.
Marjorie was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, cooking, playing cards, cross stitch, hand quilting, and loved watching golf. Mamaw was the rock of our family and taught us all about love of family and the benefit of hard work. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the special caregivers at Meadows Manor North who loved Marjorie as her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2322 N. 13 Street with Father Bernie LaMontagne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to services from 9:00 11:00 A.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
