Marion E. McCullough, 90, of Terre Haute passed away Friday evening, April 22, 2016 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He retired from Standard Oil Company in 1983 after 35 years of service. Marion was born April 8, 1926 in Putnam County, Indiana to Earl Ray McCullough and Ruth Elliott McCullough.
Survivors include the love of his life for nearly 69 years (April 27, 1947), Norma B. Rollings McCullough; two daughters, Marsha R. Newlin and her husband, Rick, of Terre Haute and Janice K. Davis and her husband, Tim, of Brazil, IN; and three grandchildren, Mandy (Newlin) Ireland and her husband, Keegan, Christy (Davis) Moore and her husband, Scott, and Jesse Davis and his wife, Ashley. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Brooke, Briley and Breena Ireland, Larissa and Conner Moore and Paisley and Piper Davis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marion was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Mary V. McCullough, Marvin Jean McCullough, Maurice Doris McCullough and Donald Joan McCullough; and a brother-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Rollings.
Marion was a graduate of Dana High School and served as a cook in the United States Army during World War II. During his military service he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. He was a member of Riley United Methodist Church and most recently First Baptist Church of Terre Haute and was a member of the Riley Volunteer Fire Department.
Marion enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with Military Graveside Honors provided by VFW Post #972. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 1:30 2:30 P.M. in the funeral home.
