Marguerite R. Klain, 100, of Brazil and formally of Terre Haute, passed away at home on Thursday, February 18, 2016. She was born in Vigo County, Indiana to Patrick Bernard Rice and Estella Irene Bodine Rice on April 28, 1915. Marguerite was a dedicated homemaker and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Albert J. Klain, who passed away in 2002.
Survivors include four daughters, Marguerite Janet Peck of Greenwood, IN, Mary Ann Klain of Brazil, IN, Alberta McCorkle of Valparaiso, IN and Carol Heitz (Patrick) of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren, Christopher Lambert (Cindy), Jonathan Lambert, Jennifer Vassar (Adam), Albert James McCorkle (Melissa), Michael McCorkle, James F. Peck, Kevin Heitz (Kelly), Natalie Heitz and Nicole Heitz; eleven great grandchildren, Parker Lambert, Benjamin Lambert, Landon Ridolfo, Allison Lambert, Hannah Dishman, Alex Vassar, Hannah Vassar, Sophia Vassar, Dillon McCorkle, Mackenzie McCorkle and Logan Vassar; a sister-in-law, Ruth P. Rice; and many nieces and nephews. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; a step-mother, Rosemary Ricketts Rice; her siblings, Paul Ricketts (Alice), Helen Henderson (Jack), Herman Rice (Erna), Harrold Rice, Dorothy Wrin (Edward) and James Rice; in-laws, Mary Dowell (James), Joseph Klain, Cecilia Navin (Jack), Amelia Moroz (John), Ann Hill (Dave), Agnes Hayne (Jack), Frank Klain (Mildred), Delores Pierce (Elwood), Pauline Hoffman, Florence Schulte (Larry); son-in-laws, James L. Peck and Barry L. McCorkle; and a great grandson, Collin Louis Vassar.
Marguerite was a 70 year member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the the Altar Society. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy and worked for a short while at Quaker Maid. The family would like to express their utmost thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care given to Marguerite. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 22, 2016 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Bernie La Montagne officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday.
