Margaret A. "Peggy" Persinger

Margaret A. “Peggy” Persinger, 95, of Merrillvillle, IN and formerly of Terre Haute passed away Thursday evening, November 24, 2022 in Merrillville.  She was born January 2, 1927 in Terre Haute to James Victor Landes and Frances W. Johnson Landes.  Her husband, Chester L. “Chet” Persinger, preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, John J. Forbes (Christine) of Merrillville, IN, James R. Forbes (Susan) of Marietta, GA, Robert (Cathy) Compton Jr, of Lincoln City, IN, Timothy (Sharon) Compton, of Yoakum, TX, Cynthia (Steven) Turner, of Battle Creek, MI, Sandra (Fred) Sellers, of Kalamazoo, MI and many great-, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Michael Persinger;  and three sisters, Jerry Compton, Dorothy Roberts and Betty Forbes.

Peggy was a graduate of Wiley High School and attended Terre Haute Business College and Indiana State University.  She was a long-time member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the J.O.Y. Class.  Peggy had a great joy for life that was infectious and a deep love for family and friends.  Her laugh and giggles will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 1, 2022 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street, with Reverend Ron Branson officiating.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM in the funeral home.  Inurnment will take place at a later time in Roselawn Memorial Park.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803 or to the charity of your choice.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
