Lois I. Krackenberger, 89, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 in RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN. She had been a cafeteria worker with the Vigo County School Corporation. Lois was born August 22, 1928 in Terre Haute to Fred Bender and Waunetta Crosley Bender. Her husband, Charles A. Krackenberger, preceded her in death on October 7, 2010.
Survivors include her son, Gary Krackenberger of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Stephanie Conway (Scott), Shelby Anderson (Doug), Eric Harmon (Jamie), Adam Krackenberger (Sarah) and Jamie Krackenberger; and four great-grandchildren, Kayley, Addison, Elizabeth and Amanda. Also surviving are four sisters, Elizabeth "Liz" Davis (Myron "Soup") of Louisville, KY, Martha "Marty" Lewis of Pensacola, FL, Sally Johns of Henderson, NV and Marcia Holbert (David) of Watkinsville, GA; a sister-in-law, Betty Bender; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Mildred Coltharp Bender; a daughter, Melinda "Penny" Wright; and two brothers, Ralph Bender and Harold Bender.
Lois was a member of Victory Christian Center. She loved being with her family especially her grandchildren, enjoyed painting, travelling with her husband and spending time in her winter home in Lakeland, Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with her grandson, Reverend Eric Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
