Linda Kay Sturtevant, 78, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. She was born January 25, 1940 in Terre Haute to Robert X. Turner and Helen Banyas Turner.
Survivors include her loving husband of 28 years, Thomas G. Sturtevant; her "favorite" sister-in-law, Carol Seyfert (Jim); and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda was a graduate of Schulte High School, received her bachelor's degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and her master's degree from Indiana State University. During her career she was a teacher having worked at Gibault Children's Services and later as a Job Supervisor for the Covered Bridge Special Education District. She was a community volunteer for a variety of causes including Card, Casseroles and Communion (which she established to provide comfort for those patients coming home from the hospital), Union Hospital Chaplain's Office and established The Aquinas Shop (which was a place where teachers could purchase class room materials).
Linda was a member of St. Joseph University Parish, Vigo County Teacher's Association, Vigo County Education Foundation, Fowler Park 1840 School Marm, Altrusa Tutoring Chili Cook Off, Krislynn Woods Book Club, Terre Haute South Retiree Book Club, Lovely Ladies Red Hat Society and supported the Terre Haute Symphony.
Linda was also an animal lover, always having several cats and dogs around the house. She has left behind family and many dear friends, colleagues and students.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 9, 2018 in St. Joseph University Parish, 113 South 5th Street, with Father Bernie LaMontagne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
