Lillian Virginia Hagel-Pitt (Sinn)

August 1, 1934 — March 25, 2023

On the morning of March 25 th , Lillian Virginia Hagel-Pitt passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Virginia Hagel-Pitt was born August 1, 1934, in Lincoln, Nebraska where she grew up with one brother Warren. After graduating High School she modeled for Revlon, Jansen Swim Wear, and J.C. Pennys. While pursuing a career in modeling she fell in love and married in 1953 Melvin Duane Sinn. Melvin was stationed in the Air Force in Honolulu, Hawaii so Virginia continued her modeling career in Hawaii until 1955 upon which time she gave birth to identical twin sons Mark and Mike. In 1956 after Melvin’s stint with the Air Force, they moved back to Nebraska where Melvin attended college and Virginia was a full-time mother and part-time model. In 1959 a beautiful baby girl was born Leiann. Mark, Mike, and Leiann kept Virginia very busy while she also helped Melvin in school. In 1968 the family moved to Terre Haute, Indiana where Virginia started taking classes at Indiana State University where she eventually got two master’s degrees. One in Humanities and another in Sociology. After graduation and a divorce from Mel, she worked a short time for the Deming Center and then Peddle Park and eventually went to work as head of Adult Protective Services. She attended the Unitarian Church was a huge animal lover and loved gardening. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Virginia is survived by her ex-husband Melvin Duane Sinn/(Lucia), son Mark/(Cathy) Sinn, son Mike/(Eric Trostler), her daughter Leiann (Minnie)/(John) Phillips, her grandsons Dylan Sinn, Jurgen Sinn/(Britini Cox) and Great grand-daughter Leighton Sinn.

A memorial service will be at a later date at The Unitarian Universalist Church. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to The Unitarian church or the Humane Shelter.
