Leonard Earl Owens

Leonard Earl Owens, age 73, of Terre Haute, died on December 25, 2014. A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, he was born on December 9, 1941, to Josephine Berkley Owens and Elvin L. Owens, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Campbell Owens. He was a graduate of Warren Central High School and attended Western Kentucky University. He was trained as a radio announcer and served in the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Key West, Florida, and Tripoli, Libya. He worked at Cutler Hammer and later became a realtor. Leonard loved traveling, baseball, basketball, politics, and his dogs, Pal and Penny. Survivors include a daughter, Julia Owens; three sisters Jo Nell Owens, Wanda Neighbors, and Sue Ann Garrett; and numerous other relatives. A memorial services will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
