Leon Matthew Harvey, 67 of Terre Haute, IN passed away on October 11, 2018 in Union Hospital. He was born January 10, 1951 in Terre Haute, IN to Charles Harvey and Dorothy Jane Schott Harvey Hollingsed.
He was a 1969 graduate of Garfield High School. He worked for Lewis Bakeries for 42 years, but had been enjoying retirement since 2012. Most importantly, he had a loving relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. He actively sang in church, was a church Deacon, a Board of Trustees member, and a huge volunteer. Through his cooking, working VBS, visiting the sick, or helping with the Garfield Towers Brown Bag Lunches, he loved to use his God given talents and give back to others. He also loved his family and friends. Making them laugh, feeding them, and playing board games with them was his favorite way to spend time together.
Survivors include his wife- Ann Stoker Harvey; four living children- Greg Harvey of Findlay, OH, Linda Harvey Hair (Kevin) of Terre Haute, IN, Brian Harvey (Lourdes) of Panama City, Panama, and Tonya Acord of Clinton, IN; eleven grandchildren- Jason, Megan, Hope, Abby, Autum, Reece, Eric, Ethan, Mallory, Ellie, and Patrick; five brothers and two sisters- Charles "Butch" Harvey of GA, George Edward Harvey of IN, Vernon Harvey of MO, Bruce "Ed" Harvey of IN, Carl Hollingsed of IN, Agnes Edmonson of IN, and Eva Hill of IN; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Harvey and Loren & Dorothy Hollingsed; his son- Jason Harvey; and granddaughter-Samantha.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home at 605 S. 25th St. Terre Haute, IN with visitation from 11am-1pm and the funeral service immediately following. If so desired, memorial contribution may be made to 8th Avenue Baptist Church of Terre Haute or to the American Heart Association.
