Leah Rose Bischoff

Leah Rose Bischoff, 98, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday morning, December 12, 2023.  She was born December 1, 1925 in Terre Haute to Ernest Greiner and Elizabeth Haxton Greiner.  Her husband, John J. Bischoff preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors include her son, John R. Bischoff;  her daughter, Carla Haley;  and five grandchildren, Sarah Lee (Keith), Laura Gilmore (Justin), Emily Nagel (Brett), Ann Johnston (Tim) and Leah Twitchell (James).  Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren;  John, Audrey, Mark, Ava and Elizabeth Lee;  Charlotte and Catherine Gilmore;  William, Charlie and Jack Nagel;  Lane, John, Haley, Wren and Lucy Johnston;  and Benjamin and Nicholas Twitchell;  and two nieces, Gail Greiner and Char Skirvin.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, John W. Haley, Jr.;  and her brother and sister-in-law, Philip C. and Ruth A. Greiner.

Leah worked as a secretary for the Indiana Special Olympics and also for the Anthropology Department at Indiana State University.  She was a member of Youngstown United Methodist Church for 55 years and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church for the last 7 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Rick Swan officiating.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM in the funeral home.  Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church Soup Kitchen, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com.
