Larry Neal Lindley, 68, of Terre Haute, Indiana, died peacefully in his home on August 25, 2019.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bette, of 44 years, daughters, Sarah (Gary) Galvin (Carmel, Indiana) and Elizabeth (Joe) Hornacky (Shiner, TX), son Daniel (Emily) Lindley (Tampa, FL), mother, Lorena Craver, brother Todd Lindley, and his eight grandchildren, Sophia, Isabella, Timmy, Miriam, Teddy, Jack, Lola, and Tuck. Larry is preceded in death by his father, Max Lindley.
Larry was born August 22, 1951, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Max and Lorena (Mace) Lindley. He graduated from Kokomo High School and Indiana State University where he met Bette and they married in 1974.
Larry was a devoted husband and father, and deeply passionate about his Catholic faith. Larry worked for 30 years for the FAA as an air traffic controller. He retired from the FAA and shortly thereafter began his work at the Carmelite Monastery in Terre Haute as their handyman. He loved his work at the monastery and developed a deep admiration and love for the Carmelite Sisters. Larry and Bette were members of St. Patrick's Parish for 35 years. Larry spent many of his early years in the parish coaching his kids sports and volunteering for the many church and school ministries. In 2014, Larry formed the Military Outreach Ministry which ministers to military families in the Terre Haute community. An enthusiastic Yankee fan, Larry and his brother attended several games a year in different ballparks across the country. In 2013, Larry and Bette completed the Camino De Santiago, a pilgrimage walk across Spain that would prove to be life changing and soul filling for them both.
Visitation for Larry will be held at Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home on Thursday August 29 from 3:00-7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church on Friday, August 30 at 10.00am. Rosary prior to service at 9:30am. A graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick's Church Military Outreach Ministry or for the maintenance of the Adoration Chapel at St. Patrick's Church.
