Kenneth Eugene Bare, Jr., "Bud", as he was known to family and many friends went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, November 24, 2018 in Davis Gardens Health Center. He was born June 4, 1962 in Terre Haute to the late Kenneth E. Bare, Sr. and Wanita Kiefner Bare. He was preceded in death by his father in February 1980 and his mother in October 2012.

Ken graduated in 1980 from South Vigo High School. While in declining health due to life-long diabetes, he remained active for years as an excellent mechanic and consultant to many. Since June of 2013, increasing complications dictated many changes in lifestyle which he faced with great faith and fortitude. He moved to Westminster Village in 2012 and was able to live independently for much of his time there. Ken will be remembered with admiration for his strength and determination and with love and gratitude for his generous spirit.

He is survived by a cousin, Jacquelyn Fox, her husband James and their family; step-sisters, Nancy Padgett, Wilma Abel, Wanda Burris and step-brother, Jack Bare and their families. Ken enjoyed the long-time friendships of Joe Whallon and Mike Sparks and more recently the devoted friendship of Susan Dawson. He appreciated his "family" of friends and staff at Westminster Village and Davis Gardens, and the excellent care by Jill Wilford and Derrik Hagerman of "Hands That Serve" which allowed him to enjoy extended time "at home".

Ken was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and preferred in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the church at 9097 E. Sugar Grove Dr., Terre Haute, IN 47803.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Warren D. Whittington officiating. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon-2:00 P.M. Following services, burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, east of Riley, IN.
