Katherine D. Szakovitz, 89 of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Cobblestone Crossing Health Campus. She was born on August 26, 1926 in Terre Haute to John Evans and Catherine DeLoughery Evans. Katherine was a secretary with Commercial Solvents-IMC in Terre Haute, Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes and worked for 22 years at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Toledo, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Szakovitz in 1995.

Survivors include two sisters, Betty McCabe and Margaret Gayler and her husband Al; nieces and nephews, Karen Pennington and Nancy Herndon, Gary Gayler, Sandy Gayler, Julie Callan, John Gayler, Melissa Lyons, Cathy Pauley and Allison Payment; her brother-in-law, Robert Bibb; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Evans; and a special friend, Myron Smith. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Ann Bibb; a brother, John Evans and a brother-in-law, William J. McCabe.

Katherine was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary and St. Anthony Rosary Society. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 12:05 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 S. 9th Street with Father Martin Day officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to services in the church. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
