Julius Loeser, 84, of Terre Haute, IN passed away Monday morning, December 2, 2024. He retired as Sr. Vice-President of Investments at UBS Financial Services. Prior to this successful second career, he was President and CEO of Loeser Automotive Group (1964-1995). He was born September 8, 1940, in Terre Haute to Gershon “Jack” Loeser and Janice Kabel Loeser.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Kathryn “Katy” Loeser; son, Jeff Loeser (Cathy) of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Jordan and Madison Loeser; brother, Edwin Loeser (Anita) of Hilton Head, SC, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Phil and Kay Farmer; sister-in-law, Mary Conrad; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Ross Matthew Woodburn.
Julius was a 1958 graduate of Wiley High School and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with Distinction in Business from Indiana University in 1962. While at IU, he was a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, was a Distinguished Military Graduate and 5th Army Medal Recipient, and Blue Key President. Julius was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s Signal Corp from 1962-1964. In 1974 he was honored with the ASIA Young Executive of the Year Award.
Julius was passionate about serving and was a past president of the United Hebrew Congregation, member and past president of the former Phoenix Country Club, member of Social Masonic Lodge #86 F & AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Zorah Shrine, Terre Haute Country Club, Downtown Terre Haute Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Swope Art Museum Board of Overseers, Candles Holocaust Museum and Education Center Director, YMCA Board of Directors, and Rose-Hulman Board of Associates.
Julius loved spending time with family and had many varied interests including professional and collegiate sports, golf, tennis, skiing, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, oil painting, photography, auto racing, sports cars, private aviation, and travel.
The family would like to thank his doctors, Westminster Village, Hands That Serve, Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus, and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion they provided.
Visitation is scheduled for 10:00-noon on Sunday, December 8th at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, Terre Haute, IN. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home at noon with Rabbi Jennifer Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
