Judy C. Maxwell

Judy C. Maxwell, 90, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away Friday evening, August 30, 2024.  She was born September 16, 1933 in Terre Haute to John W. Houghtelin and Beulah M. Pomier Houghtelin.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Ronald D. Maxwell;  daughter, Elizabeth Ann Maxwell of Altadena, CA;  son, David Lee Maxwell of St. Peters, MO;  two grandchildren, Julian Maxwell Fesman and Jonah Maxwell Fesman;  her brother, Joe Houghtelin;  brother-in-law, Jim Bedell;  a nephew, Scott Houghtelin (Lynn);  a niece, Anne Brighton (John);  and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Judy was graduate of State High School and received her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from Indiana State University and Union Hospital.  She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Chapter BN of PEO and the Country Club of Terre Haute.  Later, Judy helped her husband, Ron, establish Northeast Box Company in Ashtabula, Ohio.  They both were very active in the Ashtabula community during their time there.  In addition to Ashtabula and Terre Haute, Judy and Ron’s careers took them to Virginia, North Carolina, Chicago, Nebraska and Kansas.  Judy was a loving and caring person to her family and friends.  She was meticulous, organized, and very good at packing and moving.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Larry Snyder officiating.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Thursday  from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM in the funeral home.  If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 4400 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com.
