Judy Ann Laswell Jarvis

November 6, 1943 — April 13, 2022

Judy Ann Laswell Jarvis passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2022, with family by her side.

The second of eight children, Judy was born on November 6, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana. She graduated from Riley High School in 1961 and soon met the love of her life, Terry Lee Jarvis. They married on June 22, 1962.

Judy resided in Terre Haute her entire life, and she became a pillar of the home that she and Terry found at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was a member for 40 years and coordinated countless church dinners. No matter the occasion, momentous, somber, or everyday, Judy's love was always graciously given to her community through her gift of cooking. Her biscuits and gravy, cube steak, and red velvet cakes were unrivaled, and she could whip up the best fried chicken you’d ever tasted without even breaking a sweat. She lived for making meals for those she loved, wanting every person in the room to feel special, and most importantly, full.

The only thing that could rival Judy's love of cooking for others was the abounding love and commitment she had for her family. Over the years, her life revolved around their farm outside of Blackhawk, where Judy and Terry dedicated themselves to their crop and to raising their four children, Mary, Dee, Denny, and Ed. As she grew older, her love extended even further to her nine beautiful grandchildren and one great-grandchild, spending summer vacations, big Christmas gatherings, and Sunday suppers surrounded by her family. In her later years, although many memories faded from her, she made sure to tell Terry that she loved him every single day.

She is abundantly loved, both on Earth and in Heaven.

Judy is survived by her husband, Terry, and her children, Mary (Rob) Doti, Dee (Steve) Sandhop, Denny (Katrina) Jarvis, and Ed (Chrissy) Jarvis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Al (Michaela) Doti, Emma Sandhop, Clara Doti, Lee Sandhop, Jackson Jarvis, Kaylin Jarvis, Kyla (CJ) Brown, Noah Jarvis, and Micah Jarvis, great grandson, Rhoades Doti, as well as five siblings, Linda Laswell, Steve (Debby Sue) Laswell, Debbie Faye Laswell, Mary Jane (Bob) Hansel, and Kim Laswell, and her brothers-in-law, Mark (Shirley) Jarvis and Jay Jarvis.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mary Laswell, and her brothers, Ron (Janice) Laswell and Joe Laswell.

The family would like to thank Hands That Serve for their compassionate care, especially Jennifer and Amy Jo.
