Judith Suzanne Hynes Reed, 60, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 17, 2021 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. She was born October 8, 1960 in Indianapolis, IN to John Francis Hynes III and Virginia Elizabeth Bonta Hynes.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Dr. Philip Andrew Reed; two daughters, Elizabeth Marie Hynes Porter (Libby Armstrong) of Indianapolis and Lydia Suzanne Hynes Reed of Evansville, IN; a step-daughter, Bobbie J. Porter Blair (Brent) of Indianapolis; a step-son, David J. Porter (Stephanie) of Danville, IN; and one grandson, Jacob J. Armstrong. Also surviving are two sisters, Janine E. Cooper (Tim) and Janice M. Hynes both of Indianapolis; a brother, James P. Hynes (Kathy) of Morgantown, IN; four sisters-in-law, Marie Hynes, Janet A. Reed, Jennifer A. Reed and Cheryl A. Shannon (David); three brothers-in-law, Paul A. Reed (Haydee), David A. Reed (Margie) and Tom A. Reed; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, John Francis Hynes IV and Jerry Lee Hynes.
Judy was a member of First Congregational Church where she volunteered with the church’s outreach program. She also volunteered for March of Dimes and Red Cross of the Wabash Valley. She previously worked in various secretarial positions at a small claims court, Stewart-Warner, Hetsco, RCA, and at Riley Children’s Hospital where she was secretary to the Physician in Chief and Chairman of Pediatrics where she met Phil in the summer of 1991. Judy enjoyed working with crafts, loved astronomy and space exploration, and collecting stamps with astronomical themes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastors Jim and Kathi Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
