Joyce Jeanne Bratcher, 72, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born February 13, 1941 in Belleville, IL to John and Delphine Davis. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Charles Bratcher; a special sister, Mary Lou Loser of King, NC; a brother, John W. Davis of Lafayette, IN; and a special sister-in-law, Sandy Byers of Cabot, Arkansas. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jeffrey Paul Thornhill and has three surviving children, son, Joseph Patrick Thornhill of Park City, Utah; daughter, Jeanne Marie Campbell of Murray, Utah; and son, Jimmy Allen Thornhill and his wife Pam Wood of Westfield, NC. She is also survived by two step-children, Scott Bratcher and his wife Kim and Judy Bratcher both of Terre Haute. Joyce had eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loved ones. Joyce worked for many years as a social worker helping victims of abuse and handicapped children. She received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her many accomplishments with battered women. She was proud of obtaining her college degree while in her forties and raising four children. Joyce loved reading, collecting antiques and Boyd's Bears. She was a very devoted mother who loved and supported her children unconditionally. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a good friend to everyone who met her. She loved her Heavenly Father and lived her life in service of others. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends but will surely be greeted in heaven by her special son, Jeff, and loving mother, Delphine. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held in King, NC on Saturday, February 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
