JOSEPH SAMUEL HECK, JR. Joseph Samuel Heck, Jr., 79, of Terre Haute died Friday morning, July 26, 2013 in Davis Gardens Health Center. He was retired as the Contracting Officer for the Military Department of the State of Indiana at Stout Field in Indianapolis. Joe was born May 25, 1934 in Terre Haute to Joseph Samuel Heck, Sr. and Florence Fears Heck. Survivors include his wife, Betty Moore Heck; a son, Steve Heck and his wife, Julie, of Terre Haute; three daughters, Dawn Lafata and her husband, Tony, of Terre Haute, Kris Wood and her husband, Dan, of Zionsville, IN and Karla Hall and her husband, Jeff, of Linden, MI; six grandchildren, Brian & Stephanie Lafata, Wesley and Annie Heck, and Adam & Andrew Wood; a great-granddaughter, Khloe Lafata; a step-son, Rick Lucas of Jupiter, FL; a step-daughter-in-law, Rhonda Lucas of West Palm Beach, FL; two step-grandchildren, Robin Lucas and Reid Lucas; and a special family friend, Linda Bevington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Kelley Heck; and a granddaughter, Hannah Wood. Joe was a graduate of State High School and Indiana State University and was an Army National Guard veteran having served with the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member and Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #86. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation scheduled from 5:00-8:00 P.M., with an Elks Memorial Service to take place at 8:00 P.M., on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Private graveside services, with Military Graveside Honors provided by VFW Post #972, will be conducted in Roselawn Memorial Park.
