Joseph W. Frisz Joseph W. Frisz, 85, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on May 31, 1928 to Clarence D. Frisz and Opal Tomboeken Frisz. Joseph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Felix Frisz, whom he married on November 22, 1952. Survivors include eight children, Kathy Vaughn and her husband, Danny of North Ogden, UT, Kris Taylor and her husband, Gary of Pekin, IN, David Frisz and his wife, Darla of Center Point, IN, Jane McCrocklin and her husband, Richard of Arcadia, IN, Ann Brownfield of Terre Haute, Mark Frisz and his wife, Angie of Terre Haute, Kurt Frisz and his wife, Beth of O'Fallon, MO and Joan Frisz of Louisville, KY; fourteen grandchildren, Ben and Emily Vaughn, Josiah, Jessica, Rebekah and Micah Taylor, Matthew Frisz, Nikki McDaniel, Maryn Morris and Riley McCrocklin, Nick Brownfield, Sarah and Erin Frisz and Luke Frisz; and four great grandchildren, Natalie Frisz, Alli, Isabel and Cody McDaniel and one on the way; Joe was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, John; a sister, Joan Glover; and a brother, James Patrick Frisz. Joe graduated from Garfield High School in 1946, Indiana State Teachers College in 1953 and received his master's degrees from Indiana State University and the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army in occupied Japan, and again in the Korean War. He began his teaching career at Schulte High School, also coaching several sports. He also taught at St. Bernice, Lowell, Brownsburg High Schools, Greencastle Jr. High, and Terre Haute North Vigo High School where he taught from it's opening in 1971 to his retirement in 1993. While at North he served as an assistant football and wrestling coach. Later he was the head wrestling coach. Joe was also a long- time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Prayers will begin at 9:20 A.M. Monday, April 7, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by V.F.W. Post 927. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the funeral home with a Rosary at 6:30 P.M.
