John C. Tackett

John C. Tackett, 84, of Terre Haute died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in Union Hospital. He was born January 21, 1932 in Terre Haute to Charles A. Tackett and Catherine Johnson Tackett. John was a retired manufacturers representative.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Vendel Tackett; three sons, John Charles Tackett II and his wife Tish of Terre Haute, Steven Joseph Tackett of Baltimore, MD, and Michael Carl Tackett and his wife Teresa of Kendallville, IN; and two grandchildren, Ben Tackett and Mieke Tackett. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, the Sycamore Club, and Elks Lodge #86. He graduated from Wiley in 1950, attended I.S.U., and served in the Navy for four years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Matthew Malek OFM Conv. officiating. A rosary service will be held just prior to mass and military honors will follow mass. Visitation will be prior to services from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Benedict Soup Kitchen or the charity of your choice.
