John E. Stiegelbauer

John E. Stiegelbauer, 96, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 in Union Hospital.  He was born July 3, 1924 in Terre Haute to George A. Stiegelbauer and Grace V. Burgess Stiegelbauer.

Survivors include his children, Patricia Heinig (Mark) of Kokomo, IN and John M. “Mike” Stiegelbauer (Patty) of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Mark Heinig III (Heather) of Rensselaer, IN, Dr. Stacy Lynn Lowdermilk (Dr. Troy) of Center Point, IN, and Nicole Lynn Duffy (Patrick-deceased) of Buford, GA; great grandchildren, Helen Brincefield (C.J.), Harrison Heinig, MaryGrace Heinig, Anderson Heinig, Sydney Lowdermilk, Chase Lowdermilk, and Maverick Lowdermilk; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Cook Stiegelbauer; his parents; and siblings, Marian L. Stiegelbauer Thompson, Pauline F. Stiegelbauer Roales, and George N. “Bud” Stiegelbauer.

John retired from Hulman & Company in 1989 after 42 years. He was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir. John was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #972, Senior Swimmers, and the Schulte Men’s Club. John was also an organ donor with Indiana Donor Network.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 P.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020 in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Martin Day, OFM Conv. officiating.  Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to mass from 10:00 – 11:30 A.M. on Friday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25 ^th Street.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 S. 9 ^th Street, Terre Haute, IN  47807 or the charity of your choice.
