John James Sporer, 91, of Terre Haute died Friday, September 20, 2019 in his residence. He was born September 15, 1928 in Manitowoc, WI to Louis A. Sporer and Frances Bouda Sporer. He was wonderful, kind, patient, and loving; a true gentle man.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Marie Walsdorf Sporer; sons, John Paul Sporer, Timothy James Sporer, and Gregory Alan Sporer (Sherrene); daughter, Barbara Anne Black (Lee); a sister Mary Ann Coppens; grandchildren, Jason Black (Jessica), Aaron Black (Jennifer), Andrea McCoy (Chris), and Ryan Alan Sporer (Ellen); great grandchildren, Piper Black, Conner Black, Ella Black, Nora Black, Jack McCoy, and Emric McCoy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and Life Along the Wabash.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Darvin Winters officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
