Survivors include his wife of nearly 51 years, Dorothy M. Dicks Scott; two brothers, Paul E. Scott (Jean) of Yukon, OK and Dr. Robert E. Scott (Harriet) of Nashville, TN; a sister, Rosann Campbell (Russell) of Rockville, IN; a brother-in-law, John T. Dicks (Rosann) of Elkhart, IN; a sister-in-law, Margaret Hood of Somerset, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a 1948 graduate of Wiley High School and received his bachelor's degree from Indiana State University. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. John loved the outdoors especially when it came to tending to his garden. He was a "tinkerer" and a handyman and enjoyed making and working on all sorts of things.
A memorial visitation is scheduled from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1801 Poplar Street, with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. If friends should so desire memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Activity Center/Wabash Senior Citizens, 300 S. 5th St., Terre Haute, IN 47807 or to the charity of your choice.
