John Pidany, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Friday evening, June 1, 2018 at Westminster Health and Rehab. He retired as Vice President of Engineering from Winslow Scale Company. John was born September 5, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN to Stephen Pidany and Mary Jerichko Pidany. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Bricher Pidany, on September 27, 2017.
Survivors include his three daughters, Jackie Geddis (Rod) of Fernie, British Columbia, Canada, Kathy McCarthy (Pat) of Rochester, MN and Betsy Rodgers (Randy) of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, Shandy Geddis (Dan), Eli Geddis (Sam), Brylee Geddis, Thomas McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy, David McCarthy, Andy Rodgers (Sarah), Nathan Rodgers (Audrey) and Lauren Rodgers; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Bill Pidany (Bev) of Minneapolis, MN; his sister, Jeanne Bricher of St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
John was a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he received his bachelor's degree in engineering and played on the Golden Gopher's football team. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sycamore Club and Terre Haute Kiwanis Club. John was an avid bridge player, but his favorite activity was watching his grandchildren play sports.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Dana Newhouse officiating. Burial will be Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
