Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Carla Bischoff Haley; five daughters, Sarah Lee and her husband, Keith, of Terre Haute, Laura Gilmore and her husband, Justin, Emily Nagel and her husband, Brett, and Ann Haley of all of Carmel, IN and Leah Haley of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, John, Audrey and Mark Lee; five sisters, Aggie Rhoades and her husband, John, of Ft. Myers, FL, Theresa Houston and her husband, Brent, of Indianapolis, IN, Kate Spencer and her husband, Jeff, of Brazil, IN, and Joan Borgnini and her husband, Mike, and Molly Callahan and her husband, David, all of Terre Haute; and four brothers, Joe Haley and his wife, Chris, Bill Haley and his wife, Beth, Jim Haley and his wife, Dona, and Tom Haley and his wife, Melissa, all of Terre Haute. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Leah Bischoff of Terre Haute; a brother-in-law, John Bischoff of Terre Haute; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a graduate of Schulte High School and Indiana State University. He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and Stewardship Committee, was a participant of C.R.H.P., and helped establish The Legion of Mary not only at St. Patrick but also at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil. John was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and was a member of the Men of Carmel, American Institute of Banking and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 28, 2013 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street, concelebrated by Msgr. Larry Moran and Deacon Mike Stratman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 27th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary Service to take place at 8:00 P.M. in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Soup Kitchen, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
