Reverend John Chironna, Jr.

Reverend John Chironna Jr., 84, of Terre Haute, passed away August 15, 2016, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on August 25, 1931 in New York City to John Chironna, Sr. and Teresa Cavona Chironna. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Chironna; a grandson, Brad Chironna; great-granddaughter, Kinsley, all of Richlands, North Carolina; and his son, Paul Chironna of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death in 2011 by his wife and partner in ministry, Mildred Chironna; and by his brothers, Frank, Michael, Valerio, Louis, and Daniel. John was the pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was educated at Bloomfield College and Princeton Theological Seminary. During his time in Terre Haute, John had the privilege to serve on several boards and foundations, and as a Chaplain in the Indiana Air National Guard. Private services are planned with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
