Joan T. Chervenko, 87, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022. She was a former Vice President with Merchants National Bank Trust Services and worked in banking for over 40 years. She was born June 10, 1934 in Terre Haute to George T. Hauer and Milwida Mooney Hauer. Her husband, Alex Chervenko, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Deborah Chervenko and Michael and Rhonda Chervenko; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy H. Fox and Mary Josephine Ison; her sister-in-law, Doris Hauer; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, John Ferry and special nieces, Joan Garmany and Patty Bauer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Chervenko; a brother, James William Hauer; and a sister, Dolores Hauer.
Joan was a graduate of St. Patrick High School. She was an active and long-time member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, worked in the church Soup Kitchen, was an avid bridge player and loved to travel. Earlier in her life, she was active with Altrusa International and enjoyed bowling with her husband in local bowling leagues.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2022 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9 th Street, with Father Martin Day, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There is no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 th Street. If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9 th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807 or to the charity of your choice.
