Jeanne Ann Place LaFrance, 83, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in her residence with her children by her side. She was born April 9, 1933 in Chillicothe, MO to Lewis Place and Clyta Mae Anderson Place. She married John "Jack" LaFrance on April 4, 1959 in Alexandria, VA. Jack preceded her in death on June 3, 1986.
Jeanne is survived by her four devoted children, Mark LaFrance (Patty) of Marietta, OH, Kevin LaFrance (Sherry) of Canonsburg, PA, Steven LaFrance (Susie) of Indianapolis, IN and Karin LaFrance Kennedy (Jeff) of Terre Haute; and her grandchildren, Thomas LaFrance, Tara LaFrance, Steven LaFrance, Eric LaFrance, Gabrielle LaFrance, Nicholas LaFrance and Kate Kennedy. Also surviving are step-grandchildren, Megan Higgins, Jessica Miller and Seth Miller; several step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Gary LaFrance (Joanne); special cousin, Jo Ann Worssam; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom & Cindi Place.
Jeanne was a graduate of Brookfield High School in Brookfield, MO. After graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Jeanne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. Throughout her life, she was known for her selfless acts of caring for others. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Terre Haute South Mother's Club, Cub Scout den mother and volunteered for 15 years at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
The family would like to thank her special neighbor, Rick Wheeler, special friends, Candi Snyder and Kevin Rogers, Dr. Pradip Patel, Dr. Tejaswini Kumar, Terre Haute Regional Inpatient Rehabilitation and Kindred Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 23, 2016 in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2405 South 7th Street, with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 22nd from 4:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 P.M. in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
