Jean Lee Collins Nicholson, 84, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Union Hospital. She was born August 1, 1932 in Terre Haute to F. Warren Collins and Sarah Harpold Collins. Jean was the owner/operator of the Army/Navy Store in Terre Haute for 35 years. She had also worked at Reuben Donnelly.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Bill) Evans, Terri (Tom) King, Ted (Lou Ann) Nicholson all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Smith of Terre Haute, Scott (Courtney) Evans of Bethlehem, PA, Ashley (Bryan) Hammond of Terre Haute, Ryan Nicholson of Terre Haute, and Matthew King of Nashville, TN; and great grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Haylee Smith, Kyler Smith, Abygail Smith, Madalyn Smith, Katelyn Smith, Halle Hammond, and Harper Hammond. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Arthur J. Nicholson, Jr.; her first husband, Roy Craig, Jr. whom she married December 29, 1951 and he passed away December 24, 1952; her parents; brother, Jack Collins and his wife Betty; and sister, Jane Nicholson and her husband Ed.
Jean was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She graduated from Wiley High School in 1950. Jean was a former member of the Women's Department Club where she enjoyed working on the Cotillion Committee. She was bestowed the honor of honorary I.S.U. Sparkette in 1982. She enjoyed preparing buffets for the Sparkettes while her daughters were members. She loved making centerpieces for the holidays for her family and friends. Jean was a wonderful mom who was always present at her children's activities. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
