Janice L. “Tootie” Morris, 69, of Terre Haute, IN, peacefully passed away Sunday afternoon, October 11, 2020. She was former Director of Voter Registration for Vigo County and served her local government for more than 30 years. Janice was born August 9, 1951 in Terre Haute to Francis “Buddy” Sheehan and Nelda Louise Oats Sheehan.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Danny Morris; three daughters, Renee Patterson (Shawn) of Owensboro, KY, Stephanie Bramel (Cory) of Noblesville, IN, and Danielle Groves (David) of Westfield, IN; a step-son, Chris Morris of Terre Haute; and seven grandchildren, Cameron, Gavin, Emma, Sierra, Nicholas, Olivia and Lillian. Also surviving is her brother, Tim Sheehan (Lucy) of Fishers, IN; a brother-in-law, Greg Morris (Debbie); two sisters-in-law, Gloria Morris and Jeannie Morris; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Michael Sheehan and Patrick Sheehan.
Janice was a graduate of State High School and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. She was very active in local politics, especially with the Democratic Party. Janice loved being with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed showering her loved ones with gifts, hosting gatherings and was especially proud of her Irish Catholic heritage.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, October 16, 2020, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2405 South 7 th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be directly after Mass at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. Please join the family in a celebration of life reception back at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church’s rec room after burial until approximately 5 p.m. Seating during visitation and mass may be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, and masks are required to be worn.
