Jane Neet Shouse

Jane Neet Shouse, 93, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.  She was born September 23, 1929 in Catlin, IN to C Paul Neet and Mary Boyd Neet.

Survivors include her children, Robert Shouse, William Shouse, and Mary Ann Crum (Joseph); sisters, Marilyn Blakely (David) and Dorothy Dungan (Richard); and grandchildren, Ryan Crum (Jessi), Andrew Crum (Janine), and Brittney Jaeger (Nick); and nine great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletis H. Shouse whom she married in 1951; her parents; brother, Paul Andrew Neet; and sister, Ruth Hobson.

Jane was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a Chi Omega alumnae, a member of Gamma Gamma Chapter of Tri Kappa and its associate chapter, Indiana State University wives club, and Chapter Z of the PEO Sisterhood. Jane was a graduate of Rockville High School and Indiana State Teachers College. She worked for Indiana State University in their residential hall program after graduation. She later taught public kindergarten and helped start a parent-cooperative nursery school which she directed and taught at. Jane was also a previous board member of the Terre Haute Day Nursery Association.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 25, 2023 in Highland Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Ron Branson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.  There will be no visitation.
