Jane Elizabeth Paitson

April 10, 1921 — June 22, 2014

Jane Elizabeth Paitson, 93, of Terre Haute passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus with her family by her side Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Jane was a resident of Sycamore Manor with her good friend and roommate Imogene O'Day. She was born April 10, 1921 in Terre Haute to Oscar Hinton and Hazel Fyffe Hinton. Survivors include her daughter, Patti O'Day and her husband Ron of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Ryan O'Day and his wife Becky, Ben O'Day and his wife Kelly both of San Diego, CA, Kelli O'Day Lloyd and her husband Brenton of Terre Haute, Robert Paitson of Terre Haute, Richard Paitson and his wife Nycole of Brazil, and Sarah Decker and her husband Robert of Rosedale; great grandchildren, Liam O'Day, Molly O'Day, Riley O'Day, Marley O'Day Landry O'Day all of San Diego, CA, Braeli Lloyd, Keira Lloyd, and a Lloyd baby on the way all of Terre Haute, Noah Paitson of Brazil, and Sierra Mason, Jacob Bolenbaugh, and Julie Decker of Rosedale; brothers-in-law, Luke Dever and his wife Ann and Bill Malloy and his wife Linda both of Terre Haute; sister-in-law, Betty Cotterman and her husband Bob of FL; nieces and nephews, Peggy Pesterfield and her husband Joe of TN, Bill Dever and his wife Mary, Tom Dever and his wife Laura both of Terre Haute, Bill Malloy and his wife Leanne of Indianapolis, Mollie West and her husband David of Alabama; John Cotterman, Connie Parks and her husband John both of Florida, and Ron Cotterman and his wife Debbie of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene R. Paitson whom she married June 18, 1947; her parents; a son, Rick Paitson; and sisters, Maxine Dever and Rita Malloy. Jane was a member of Badoura Temple #23 Daughters of the Nile as well as various local organizations and clubs. She loved talking to people and she would talk to anyone who would listen, earning the nickname "Windy" in high school. Jane enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining and traveling in her younger years. In her later years she loved spending time with her great grandchildren. Jane and husband, Gene co-owned Paitson Bros. Hardware. She was a graduate of Wiley High School. Jane loved her dog "Sasha" who was adopted from the Terre Haute Humane Society. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 27, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Abe Miller officiating. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Friday.
