James O. Spangler

James O. Spangler, 81 of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He was a sales representative for over 40 years for Industrial Supply Company of Terre Haute. Jim was born April 7, 1940 in Lawrenceville, IL to Clarence Austin Spangler and Ruby Pond Spangler

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Linda Kay Esch Spangler; daughter, Tina Spangler of Terre Haute; son, David Spangler (Gordon Dean McCarthy) of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Tyler Spangler (Devun) and Kaelyn McCullough (Ryan); and great-grandchildren: Rylee, Demi, Easton, and Jaxton. Also surviving are his brother, Larry Spangler (Renata) of Colorado and sons Chris and Troy; his nieces, Terri Macklin (Steve), Gerri Harrington; his nephew Kevin Spangler; his step-sister Linda Schmidt; his step brother Larry (Rita) Meeks; two brothers-in-law, Charles Esch (Debbie) and Mike (Jana) Esch; four sisters-in-law, Lois (Jerry) Bachman, Alberta (Tom) Semrau, Bridgette Esch and Laura Partyka (Bruce Anderson); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Jerry Spangler, and stepmother Lorene Spangler

Jim was very involved in his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives. He loved watching and cheering them on at every sporting event. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, playing tennis and golf. He was a very hard-worker, always providing for his family, and enjoyed spending time bird watching with his bride. He was a great friend, and family man. He was selfless, loving, caring, and always asked how he could help someone else.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor John Thompson officiating.
