James F. (Jim) Jenkins, 89, of Terre Haute passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 surrounded by the loving angel aides at Canon Inn. He was born December 18, 1922 in Brazil, IN to Joe Jenkins and Zola Seward Jenkins. He was the owner of Jenkins Poultry and Egg Market, which was started by his parents, from 1948 until he retired in 1969. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Dorothy Vandevoir Jenkins in 2008 and his son, Thomas Jenkins in 1950. He is survived by cousins, Wayne Jenkins of Brazil and Don Mercer and his wife Betty Ann of West Terre Haute. Jim was a 50 year member of the Brazil Elks Lodge # 762 and a World War II U.S. Army Airborne Veteran receiving five Bronze Stars. He graduated from Brazil High School in 1942. The family would like to thank Beverly Horrall, manager of Cannon Inn, and the aide angels of Cannon Inn as well as the aides from Meadows Manor North for making Jim's life happy. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 7, 2013 in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery with Reverend David Rockhill Officiating and V.F.W. Post # 972 providing military honors. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
