Jack London, 97 passed away on February 26, 2019. A resident of Terre Haute from 1950 to 2003, he was born and raised in Chicago, where he helped his mother run the family grocery store.
He was drafted into the army in 1942 and served in WWII Seventeenth Infantry Regiment attached to the Seventh Division for 32 months overseas in the Aleutian Islands, Okinawa, and the Marshall Islands. After his return he married Fannie Zoll and moved to Terre Haute, where he became a partner in Cut Rate China & Glass Co. (CRC). They raised 3 children and retired to Florida in 2003. He enjoyed working and helping people. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Jack was a member of the United Hebrew Congregation, where he taught Sunday school and served as a board member.
He leaves behind his wife Fannie, daughter Adrienne, sons Craig and Marty (Melinda), one grand- daughter Haley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1pm Sunday Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Hebrew Congregation 540 South Sixth Street. Arrangements are under direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
