Jack Barnett Jack Barnett, 85, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 in Meadows Manor East. He was born August 16, 1929 in Sioux Falls, SD to George Barnett and Ruth Bauch Barnett. Jack was a retired patent attorney and had worked in Milwaukee, WI, Decatur, IL and Terre Haute, IN. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kaercher Barnett of Terre Haute. Other survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Barnett of St. Paul, MN, Colleen Mary "Kelly" Barnett and her husband, Dr. Richard Jany of North Bend, OR, Claire Teresa "Kitty" Barnett of Hillsdale, NJ and Dr. Carol Mavourneen "Kerry" Barnett and her husband, Michael Baki of Hardwick, NJ; two brothers, Donald Barnett and his wife, Marilyn and Dr. George Louis Barnett and his wife, Margaret, both of Sioux Falls SD; two sisters, Katherine "Kate" Williams of Gettysburg, SD and Jane Harris of Lennox, SD; seven grandchildren, Jessica Muriel Longo, Sheila Ann Longo and her husband, Adam Scott Burd, Michael Barnett Jany, Sean Barnett Jany and his wife, Whitney Danielle Jany, Kira Muriel Barnett Jany, Albert Barnett Baki, and Muriel Barnett Baki; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Barnett; two sisters, Barbara Sanders and Dr. Patricia Barnett; and his first wife, Muriel L Mongoven Barnett. Jack, an Eagle Scout, earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Notre Dame in 1951 and his law degree from Marquette University. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, The Notre Dame Alumni Association and the Badin Society. Jack was a born naturalist. He showed a deep love of nature at a very early age and shared that fascination with his family and many others throughout his life. He helped establish the Garden Angels at St. Patrick Church, volunteers who plant and care for various garden plots on the grounds. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 14, 2014 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be 1:30 P.M. EST-12:30 CST in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Visitation is scheduled 4:00 to 8:00P.M. Thursday, November 13, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St, with a rosary service to be recited at 7:30P.M.
